Which are correct:

1-I sent the documents in case you wanted to verify something.

2-I sent the documents if you wanted to verify something.

3-I sent the documents for reference, in case you wanted to verify something.

4-I sent the documents for reference, if you wanted to verify something.

I think '1' and '3' work. 'If' sounds a bit strange here, I would say.... Maybe '4' does work...

Gratefully,
Navi.

I have no idea why anybody would write "something" in those sentences.

Thank you very much Mike.

Well, I could have used 'them'. It would make everything simpler.

But it would have changed the meaning.

You have gone on a business trip and you did not have the 'documents' when you left. You could have carried out the negotiations anyway, but I have sent you the 'documents' just in case you are unsure about something (for instance a service we are offering) and wanted to verify it.

But then you would have specified the "something", wouldn't you?

Thank you very much Mike,

I suppose that depends. If I know what the other person will need to verify, then I will have to mention it, but if I don't then I suppose I couldn't.

If by any chance there is something you want to verify, refer to these documents. All you need is there.
Normally you know all their is to know, but if you have any doubts about anything, you'll find it in these documents.

But I think I have complicated things too much. My apologies.

How about these:

1a-I sent the documents in case you wanted to read them.
2a-I sent the documents if you wanted to read them.

3a-I sent the documents for reference, in case you wanted to read them.

4a-I sent the documents for reference, if you wanted to read them.

Gratefully,
Navi.

The new sentences are better. But I would have used the present prefect is all four cases.
