1) *Crocodile skin can be used to make bags and belts.

Must "bags and belts" be in the plural form? Can we say..

*Crocodile skin can be used to make many things such as bag and belt.

2) What about the following sentence...

I love to eat _________ . (apple/apples)

3) Can we use the singular form of nouns to refer to all items in the same category?

Hi,I'm a fresh here and I'm an English learner as well.Hope my understanding about your questions can be helpful for you.For your first question:Crocodile skin can be used to make many things such as bags and belts. You can't say Crocodile skin can be used to make many things such as bag and belt.Because there is a word "things" in the sentence,so you have to use "bags and belts" to follow "things".For your second question:I love to eat __apples___ . (apple/apples).You can't use singular to represent that kind of categary here. For your last question:I think it depends on the situation.

Crocodile skin should be left on the crocodiles!
