[Grammar] singular or plural

1.Now shipping and customer service are both downstairs.
Is the sentences correct? Can we use "is" or "services " instead?
2.Then do what I do. Sweet talk them into giving you a good score.
Should we use talking instead?

As for 1. I agree with you. As for 2. sure thing , talk is a noun ,sweet is an adjective,from which we can come to the conclusion that a noun can have the same collocation as its verb.Is that right?
