In the following paragraph, I described a bar graph. I am puzzled between using singular or plural forms in words in red.

As it can be seen that people went to and from work by car at 30% in 198‪0 and it dwindled gradually to reach 15% in 200‪0. People depended abundantly on walking in 196‪0 at about 35%. Then, it tapered dramatically to reach its lowest level at about 10 % in 200‪0. In addition, bike was the most prominent way of transportation in 196‪0 at 25% then it witnesed a dramatic fall in 200‪0 at 5%

When writing a paragraph, sometimes I do not know whether to use singular or plural forms

I think it is okay to use the singular to refer to a particular mode of transport.
"Bike" could mean bicycle or motorcycle. I would write "the bicycle".
