"Frequently."
"How often?"
"Well, some hundreds of times."
"Then how many are there?"
"How many? I don't know."

In the above dialog, does "some hundreds of times" mean "about a hundred times"?

No. It's plural for a reason. It's not a thousand times, but it's at least two hundred.

Officially it would still be classed as a dwarf, as are all the stars in the Main Sequence13, but it is a big dwarf, some hundred times as large as your Sun.

Does "some hundred times" mean "some hundreds of times"?

No, that really does mean "about one hundred times". There is a subtle difference, "about" suggests an equal possiblity of being slightly larger or smaller while "some" suggests that the it is more likely to be slightly larger.

In your original post I would omit "some"and just say "well, hundreds of times".

No. It means it's roughly 100 X the size of the Sun.
