what is the structure of the following phrase or sentence:1- Is it an idiom? 2- What is the tense of the sentence?
" His parents pushed him down that route."

1. No, it is not an idiom. 2. It is past tense.

Hi mrek,
Welcome to the forum. :hi:
The tense of your sentence is the simple past.

In future, try to give your threads a title that directly relates to the question; not a general title like "structure of a sentence." For example, a better title for this thread could have been "push down that route", or even "push down route." By doing that, you make your threads searchable, and therefore more useful within the forum.

Finally, have a look at the discussion in this similar thread, particularly at post #2 by SoothingDave:

Is this part of your homework?
