Perhaps Hitchcock's most popular film today, Psycho was cutting edge at its time and broke down barriers of what a horror movie could tackle. Psycho follows Janet Leigh's Marion Crane, who is on the run with a pile of stolen money when she checks into the Bates Motel and meets an untimely end. As an investigation into her death expands, the motel's own Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) becomes more and more suspicious, leading to an. unforgettable (and now infamous) ending.

Should "the motel's own" be "the motel's owner"?

Either that, or somebody doesn't understand that you can't use the expression "X's own Y" to refer to the original Y.

For example, if there were a motel in my town which had a psychotic killer running it, I might say something like "Hotel X's own Norman Bates".

The construction is possible, although I agree it's likely just a spelling error in this instance.

The writing is pretty ropy, so I would go with the spelling mistake.
