1) "The stupidest song I ever wrote was xyz."
2) "The stupidest song I've ever written is xyz."
As far as I understand they pretty much mean the same thing. As far as I know Americans tend to use 1 more and 2 is frequently used by the English.
For 2, is 'was' possible in the present perfect tense?
