Without a context, it means what it says - it's futile to look for solutions to thunderbolts (or something similar).
Within a context, it might take on some more useful meaning. It's not an English idiom.

It's from the Latin "Remedium frustra est contra fulmen quaerere"

Ah, so that's what it means! It's all clear now. ;-)

So :) ? What does it mean, I don't know Latin? How can I translate this for a turkish book?

It is just written on a sign in front of a home and is a family motto. No more clear content about this sentence.

Have a look at post #2 again. I would suggest that you translate it literally into Turkish and see what people make of it.

Ok, thank you very much :)

I'd assume that it's a message of fatalism, or impotence in the face of the gods. If Jupiter decides to throw a thunderbolt, there's not much you can do about it. As a motto, it would seem to mean that we should accept those things which we cannot change.

Thank you very much :)

Shinem, your thanks are appreciated, but you don't need to send them in a separate post.
