Cab one say
a. Confidential documents were in the suitcase.
instead of
b. There were confidential documents in the suitcase.
?

================

-What are you talking about?
c. Confidential documents. They were in the suitcase.

I think (a) can be used instead of (b), but I am not entirely sure (c) works. Does it? There were some confidential documents in the suitcase.

Many thanks

Yes but context could change usage e,g. a. Where were the confidential documents? b. What did you find in the suitcase?
