Hi,

Is there a difference between tourist guide and tour guide?

***** NOT A TEACHER *****

Here in the United States, if you were to visit the White House, for example, I believe that a tour guide would take charge of

the group and show you the different rooms open to visitors. I believe that "tour guide" would be the correct term for the man

or woman who guides you around, whether it be the White House, a museum, or a manufacturing plant. It would sound very

strange to use the term "tourist guide" in such a situation.
