It depends on your purposes. An interpreter translating live speech is not likely to give as accurate a translation as someone who has the leisure to read or carefully listen to the speech or a transcipt.

You are correct in your suggestion that the use of translation is more accurate than interpretation in terms of expressing things in other languages. While interpret is frequently used in that sense, it has a broader definition which is to explain the meaning of something or to understand something in a specific way . Generally, the person who does the oral translation is an interpreter, while the written work is done by a translator.

Having read riquecohen's response, I see that I might have answered the wrong question - whether translation was more accurate than interpretation.
If you meant, Isn't [the word] "translation" more accurate than [the word] "interpretation"?, then see riquecohen's answer. In either case, it still depends on "more accurate for what purpose?"
