Many chains are starting to steer away from price cutting and value led activities towards creating a more value-added experience.
- In this sentence, what does "value led activities" mean? Does it bear a negative meaning?

I think "values-led activities" would sound better. It means "activities that are led by values, or activities that are done (so as) to get more values".
Am I wrong?

It's an awkward sentence - saying that they are moving away from value-led activities to value-added experience. What is value-adding if not a value-led activity?
No, Ï don't think it should be 'values'. I believe it means a similar type of value as in 'value-adding'. I think the clue comes in "price cutting". The customer believes they are getting value if the item is cheap. But value can be added in other ways than simply cutting the price. So, yes, it's two different, but still similar, meanings of ''value'.

If you go to WalMart, for example, because they have the lowest prices, then you are reacting to "value-led activities." The experience may not be super pleasant, you will probably have to wait in a long line to check out, the aisles may be crowded and messy.

If you go to another store, you may have a better experience, but pay a little more for items. This would be "value-added." Things will be neater and cleaner. Your wait to checkout will be shorter. Someone will bag your groceries and place them in the cart for you.

Some people will pay more for better service.
