Dear All,

I am confused whether a 'verb to be' is needed after the conjunction 'and'. For example,

  1. They are cleaning the classroom and are arranging the tables as well. (Is the 'are' in blue needed?)
  2. I am crying and laughing at the same time. |or| I am crying and am laughing at the same time? (The second sounds weird to me)

Is there any rules for this? Thanks for the help in advance. :)

No, it's not needed as long as the following verb form is the same, eg cleaning/arranging.
