As the sentence "We live on the same street" is from a dictionary, my question is about the second preposition: Can we say "We live in the same street"?

It's "on," in AmE anyway. Living "in the streets" is to be homeless.

In BrE "in" is usual, and "living on the streets" is to be homeless.
