What does "lame" & "corporate sellout" mean in below sentence? Someone is writing to the future self -

"If you became some lame, corporate sellout, just throw yourself off a cliff, because you suck!"

lame = dull, boring, uninspiring

sellout = a person who gives up what they believe in to make money

corporate sellout = someone who gives up what they believe in to make money by serving a corporation

Surely "became" should be "become"?

Perhaps they are meeting after some years apart, and the other person is already a sell-out? Reconnecting on Facebook after being protesters together in college?

Yes, I agree that the past tense works in that sentence.

If I got a message like that on Facebook from somebody I knew xxx years ago, I wouldn't bother to reply. They would not be added to my friends list.

No disagreement there.
