A director, maybe, of chambers where is full of people who are on the line talking with someone,is having a conversation with another lawer which goes as follow:

-The drugs it's going to plead.
-You sure?
-And you're in front of judge ladd.
-Excellent.
-So reference for your silk application I was thinking sir.
-I love it when you think Billy.

So what does "ladd" mean here? Is it a name or referring to something else?I consulted some dictionaries but still find it perplexing.Any help will be much appreciated.

I imagine that they are speaking of Judge Ladd; Ladd is the judge's surname.
