A dudebro is a humorous or derisive slang term stereotyping a young, usually white man as a partying prep or jock who is unaware of his own privilege. what does"partying prep" mean? Is "prep" a member of the wealthy class? dudebro | Dictionary.com

Both have several meanings, but I think you'll find the ones that fit via Google. Jock is easy to find. Prep is harder, but if you Google for the more common preppy, it means the same thing in this context.

Do that, then ask again if you still need help.

And yes, always tell us where your quotes come from.

What does “partying” mean?
Have you looked up the verb party?

What does your dictionary tell you? Are you still unsure what the sentence means?

Your question is about jocks and preps who party. What have you learned about the three words? (Again, you can also Google preppy, which is much more common in this context.)

I apologise. I hadn't grasped that "partying prep" was part of the definition. It sounded so slangy to me that I didn't think for one second that it could be used in a dictionary definition.

my original assumption about the "partying prep or jock" was a young wealthy person who goes to parties frequently.

Not necessarily wealthy. A jock is someone who is very active in sports. Such people don't have to be rich.

It's true that many if not most jocks come from less than affluent backgrounds. Preppies, on the other hand, are almost always well-off. Otherwise their families could not afford to send them to prep schools.

By the way, to me preps are the schools and preppies the students. I've never seen or heard prep used for the students.
