My dear teachers,

What does the sentence mean?

The man is lonely in that he must enter and leave the world alone.

"in that" :
used for introducing an explanation of what you have just said, showing in what way it is true:"The new system is better in that it provides faster access to the internet." (Macmillan advanced learners dictionary)

"The man is lonely. You ask me why? Because he must enter and leave the world alone."

The man is lonely in that he enters and leaves the world alone.

Sir, I removed the word "must".

Would this mean that the man is lonely because he enters and leaves the world alone?

You can use "because" for both sentences I think.

And no need for "the" before "man". Here man means humanbeing, and this sentence is about people in general. So just say:"Man is lonely ...."

I don't get this.

Nobody enters the world alone. Their mothers are always with them.

Sir,
I guess the word enter=travel or pass through.
That is, sometimes, we travel in this world alone.

No. Enter=come into/ go into.

Mamen, note that The man is lonely would have made a better title for your thread.
