Which one of these sentence structure is better?

What did you lie about/ what was it that you ie about?
 
What did you lie about? What was it that you lied about?

Better in what respect? They are both grammatically correct sentences. I would use the first, but only because they mean the same thing and the first uses fewer words!
 
emsr2d2, isn't it better to ask the second one as;
What was that (that) you lied about?

And what do you think about the version with the noun form? ; What was that lie about ?
