Hello all,
May I ask if the use of "that" is redundant or wrong in the sentence below?

I also have to say that I like the direction our friendship is going. What I mean is that our mutual respect and mutual understanding, along with valuing each other and respecting one another's privacy, has really made it possible to build such a long-lasting and strong friendship, which we hope that will last a lifetime.

I wrote it myself.

It's both wrong and redundant.

It's both wrong and redundant.
Thank you.
I hope you don’t mind me asking, but I don't know why the use of "that" is wrong there when we can use "that" along with "hope".
For example:
We hope that more women will decide to join the course.

The difference is that in your original post, the word "which" precedes the rest of the "hope" sentence.

We hope that this will last a lifetime.
This is something which we hope will last a lifetime.

It is a little ambiguous to me as "which" refers to "friendship while "that" relates to the verb "hope". Why the use of both of them in a sebtence is wrong?

Something will last a lifetime.
Something, which we hope, will last a time.

"Which we hope" is extra information added to the first sentence, which you can do without.
So, can you see why your "that" does not fit into the sentence?

Yes, except that your second phrase is not a sentence. The following are correct.
"This is something that/which will last a lifetime."
"This is something which we hope will last a lifetime."
"This is something which, we hope, will last a lifetime." (What is added is "we hope", not "which we hope".)

"Something will last a lifetime."
"Something, we hope, will last a lifetime." Grammatical, but not very meaningful.
