The fleet of the ship-owner consists of 11 ships, which were joined by another one “Sindbad”.



Does the above sentence mean the same as "The fleet of the ship-owner consists of 11 ships, to which another one, “Sindbad”, was added?


What do you think of that?

Approximately, but the sentences are confusing.

You use present tense consists in the first part, and past tense were and was in the second parts. Why?
