- He had a very good comrade in the WWII. He lost touch with his comrade after the war was over so now he wants to put/place an advertisement in newspapers with a hope of seeing his comrade again.

Does this make sense and have a conversational tone?

It has a fairly conversational tone, yes. I have made a few amendments above.
We don't say "the WWII". We either say "WWII" or "THE Second World War".
