"When she suggest me working over the weekend, I was so angry I tried to quit"

Isn't the formula supposed to be suggest somebody do something? Why is it "me working" here?

NOT A TEACHER

Hi there,

If you take a close look at this sentence you will realize that working is the object (of what was suggested me).

When a verb is an object, than it may come on its ING form, deppending on the main verb, in this case, suggested.

It's not grammatical.

When she suggested that I work over the weekend...
When she suggested my working over the weekend...

So is it right or wrong? Your ideas are kind of conflicting. The explanation my teacher gave is as quite similar to Bruna's though.

Yes, it is correct.

"When she suggested me working over the weekend, I was so angry I tried to quit." is not natural English

Natural versions are, as Barb said:

When she suggested that I work over the weekend...
When she suggested my working over the weekend...

This is also acceptable, if the context is clear: When she suggested working over the weekend...

This is simply wrong: When she suggested me to work ...
