The context is about someone who was in an office for an hour.
I was wondering what is the word "in" because I don't think it is a preposition in the phrase: "You were in there for an hour."
 
It's a preposition; its prepositional object is 'there (= "the office")'.
 
Why do you think it's not a preposition?
