Set 1 – for classroom discussion
Write an answer to one of the questions in this part. Write your answer in 280-320 words in an appropriate style.

- Your college newspaper has asked its readers to send in reviews of the art gallery or galleries in a nearby town. In your review you should briefly describe the gallery or galleries, and compare them to the spaces for art in the town that you are in now.

- An English-language listings magazine called What’s On is preparing a special edition on galleries and museums, and has asked for reviews of exhibitions that people in some way found difficult to understand. You decide to review an exhibition that you attended, including what the art works had in common, what was difficult to comprehend, and how you feel about the exhibition now looking back.

- An English-language magazine has invited readers to send in reviews about a film, TV programme or TV series which deepened their understanding of the visual arts. You should briefly describe the movie or programme and explain how it deepened your understanding of art.

Don’t look at the next page until you are ready to start realistic timed writing exam practice. When you have started your stopwatch, choose one task below, plan your answer, write your answer, and edit it (also adding better language, etc) in exactly 45 minutes. Your teacher will tell you if you can also spend extra time on it (in red pen, with books etc to help okay).
