Does cameo here mean "a short piece of writing that gives a good description of sb/sth"?

==============
Limbaugh accused Obama of using his race to prevent criticism of his policies, and said he was successful in his first year in office only because conservative members of the 111th Congress feared accusations of racism.[127][128] Limbaugh featured a recurring skit in which his colleague James Golden, who described himself as an "African-American-in-good-standing-and-certified-black-enough-to-criticize-Obama guy", appeared in a cameo as the "Official EIB Obama Criticizer".[129]

What do you find when you look up cameo in a dictionary? Hint: one of the definitions will apply to the context of film. That's the one you want.

I'm not crazy about this definition. It misses the key aspect, which is that the person making the cameo appearance is well known and will be recognized by most audience members. A cameo is a distraction from the film's narrative, so it has to be carefully placed in a non-critical scene.

Alfred Hitchcock famously made a cameo appearance in nearly all of his films, including Lifeboat. It was challenging for him to fit himself into that one, given that the entire film is set in a lifeboat lost at sea. He solved the problem by putting his photograph in an ad that briefly comes into the frame as a character is reading the paper.

The Wikipedia article on the subject is worth reading.
