Is "fall" the correct verb to use in my sentences?


1. "My backpack's zipper isn't working very good. It/zipper fell."

2. "My button fell." (I mean the button of my shirt).

Look up the phrasal verb fall off.

I don;t know what you are describing in #1.
Use came off in #2,

For #1. I mean my backpack's zipper is not working/moving very good. Then suddenly it came off. Can I use "come off" in both?

Yes, you can use came off. Use fell off if the button landed on the floor.

I guess you'll have to buy a new backpack.

Note that zipper is AmE and the same thing is called a zip in BrE.

It's stitched into both sides of what it fastens together, so can't simply fall off.

I guess you're talking about the zip(per) pull (the tag you hold to open and close it). This can break/come off in your hand with frequent use but is unlikely to fall off.

Similarly, buttons are usually stitched/sewn in place, so they can't fall off. They gradually come loose from frequent use.
