Height

Hi,

I am afraid of heights.
( Why 'heights' in plural? what does it mean? Can it be singular? )

'Heights' means 'high places' like towers and clifftops.

'Height' is a dimension, like 'length'.

I can't imagine anybody being afraid of length.
