Here are my comments for what they are worth?

A colleague wrote the sentence in the title. I don't quite understand the meaning associated with 'for what they are worth'. He could have simply written Here are my comments / Here is what I think. What really does the phrase convey? Thanks

Adding 'for what they are worth' is a form of self-deprecation.

It's like saying 'Here are my comments, but they might be complete rubbish and not worth wasting your valuable time considering'.
