[Idiom] hit the beach !

Hi everyone.Today I listened to a MP3 File. I think I heard something like this sentence :"let's go hit the beach" and "let's go hit the bar". Please explain these sentences to me. And now what is difference between these sentences : a. I hit him.b. let's go hit the beach. It's better to give me some examples like these sentences.
