Hi,

Which one below is grammatically correct?

1. How much money do I have left?
2. How much money I have left?

Thanks.

As a standalone question, #1 is correct. #2 could be a valid phrase, e.g. "Can you tell me how much money I have left?"

Shouldn't "How much money have I left?" be possible too?
However, its meaning would be different.

Cheers!

"How much money have I left" is indeed possible. It has the same meaning as "How much money do I have left".

Really?
I thought:
How much money have I left?
I want to give you some of my money.
(I put it on a table.)
I forgot how much it was, so I ask you.

How much money do I have left?
I play in a casino and spend a lot of money.
The guy asks me, "What's your capital expenditure (not sure if it's the correct word here)?"
And you ask your wife, "How much money do I have left?"

What do you mean? :)

Cheers!

Nightmare, I don't get the difference between your two situations. Could you explain it more generally?

(I don't think there's a difference either.)

I have left you something.
(It's for you.)

I have something left.
(It's for me.)

Cheers!

Oh, I see. "How much money have I left" can mean two things. It depends on the function of "have". "Have" can be an auxiliary verb needed to make the present perfect tense, or it can simply mean "possess".

I think he means "have I left" as in "left behind."

Anyway, it is valid English to say "How much money have I left?" (noun-verb re-ordered to form a question), but it doesn't sound natural to me.

It's perfectly natural to my ear.
