Dear teachers,

Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Such essay-type articles may be called human interest stories.

human interest stories = articles for everyone

human interest = presenting people and their problems, concerns, or achievements in a way that arouses interest or sympathy: a human-interest story.

Thank you for your efforts.

Regards,

V.

I'd agree with you.

IMO, 'human interests' is a bit too general. It can mean anything under the sun. That's a broad coverage of the articles you mentioned which are basically about people and their lives.
How about 'lifestyle' articles?
