Hello.

Could you please correct my sentence?
Why you (not mend) the fuse? ~ why haven't you mended?
I (not have) time. I haven't had time. I didn't use the past simple ''I didn't have time''. I thought it would be wrong here.
 
In this exercise can the present perfect and the past simple be used together? As in ''why haven't you mended the fuse''? ''I didn't have time''.

That dialog works fine for me, except that we don't mend fuses in American English. Indeed, we rarely use the perfectly good verb "mend" at all.
