Hello

What is a verb that can describe the slow movement of a person downwards? For example when a father moves down to lace his kid's shoes. Or when a tailor moves down to measure his client.

I was thinking about "squat". Is it the right choice?

I squatted down to lace my daughter's shoes.

That works.

I prefer I knelt down ...

Understood, but I would prefer/use 'bent over'.
