What is correct : "Today I've been offered a job" or "Today I was being offered a job" ?

/A learner/

This is how I, a learner, see it.

Today, I've been offered a job. Correct for me.
Today, I was offered a job . In the evening, correct as well.

Thank you for following forum guidelines, e2e4 and making it clear that you are not a teacher . I wish that others would do the same.

Thank you, too, for giving the correct response.

I will add simply that the second is probably more likely, The fact that that being offered a job is a punctual (single time-point) action suggests that the speaker is locating the action at a past time-point in his/her mind, even though it is still today.

Dear teacher fivejedjon, thank you for your kidnnes!:)
It's about that I like to help other learners and also to think about the matter and at length say my opinion after which the teachers are then able to get what I know and what I don't know that they can teach me the best way.

In addition, I must check up on you again.;-):)

I am suspicious about the next

Thank you for following forum guidelines
Shouldn't it be
Thank you for following the forum guidelines.

If not, please let me know why "the" is not needed.

Thank you in advance

Maybe a word of explanation is due about the word "being". If you used it, ph2004, you'd stress the duration of being offered a job. You don't want to do it usually. You just want to state the fact that you were offered a job. "Being" could be correct if you wanted to say that something else happened during your being offered a job.

I am not going to thank you again, e2e4, if you respond with difficult questions;-).

You are right in thinking that Thank you for following the forum guidelines is good English.

My version is also acceptable, but I am going to have to think about my answer to your final question before I submit it to your scrutiny.
