Hi,

pump: a lightweight, low-cut shoe without fastenings for women.

Is common to say "low-cut shoe" instead of "low-cut clothing/dress"?
What does "low-cut" mean when it comes to shoe?

But, it's not "instead of", rather "in addition to."

Low-cut shoes are shoes that do not have sides that rise much above the sole and, generally, very low heels.

You can see the top of the foot. It doesn't cover the top of the foot.

You're right - you usually associate this with a neckline, rather than a shoe.

I don't think anyone would say "low-cut shoe" instead of "low-cut clothing/dress". As the others have pointed out, "low-cut" is used for shoes, but only when shoes are being referred to.

Take a look at these. They can have high or low heels. Pumps*|*Designer Shoes*|*NET-A-PORTER.COM

Sexy peep-toe pumps by Christian Louboutin. €2,295 ($2,933).
They can have high or low heels, bells, whistles, lights, brakes, a plasma screen, an iPad and a smartphone - whatever you want. I am astounded.:shocked!:
This is what I always thought of as a low-cut pump. Having never worn them, I admit that I am no authority.
