I have heard of an idiom such as "One who stays on dry land never sinks." It means if you do not put yourself in risk or danger, you won't get hurt. I will try to put the idiom in an example sentence.
A: why did you help Jon in smuggling drugs and human.
B: Joh who came to me himself to do the dirty work. I did not offer that to him. If he stays on dry land never sinks."
The word "sinks" is more likely means "drowned" in problems like debt burden or police threat.
