Hello guys,
Some minutes ago I read this idiom:
Come and take pot luck!

Is there also a "normal" version of that sentence?
In German it would be:
Come, let you surprise!
You give yourself the chance to get surprised by someone.
:?:

It would be 'Come and [let yourself] be surprised' or 'come, and expect a surprise'. But 'take pot luck' isn't notably 'slangy'. When used in more formal contexts, it refers to food (whatever's in the pot); but - by its nature - it can't be used in the most formal of contexts.
