I would like to know which one is correct.
1. The first I do in the mornings is wake up.
2. The first I do in the morning is to wake up.

I heard people say both way.

I would only use the first one.

Is waking up something we do, or just something we have no control over?

What if you have insomnia, and you never go to sleep?

NOT A TEACHER.
I think the sentence should be written in this way "If I go to sleep and don't die, the first thing I do (in the mornings) is to wake up."

And what about the things you do before you wake up?!

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is go back to sleep again.

I read all the reply. No one go with the second sentence. Does it mean the second one is wrong? And if not, how will I get to know where to say "is to xyz or is xyz?" Because these mean the same.

Posts 2 and 3 have given you the answer. You say "The first thing I do is wake up."
Why are you telling us they mean the same? By themselves, they don't mean anything.

Here are some examples of using 'to' or not:
"What I do in the mornings is wake up."
"What I like to do in the morning is to wake up." You can see that the structures on the two sides of 'is' are parallel. However, you could use "is wake up" here too. To me, it's a stylistic issue. But your original sentence 2 doesn't sound right, which is confirmed by all the Likes in post 3.
