Hello,

shall I use who or whom here:

Whom/who is this car for?

Hello,

shall I use who or whom here:

Whom/who is this car for?

By strict grammatical rules, it should be "whom" because it is the object of the preposition "for". However, that usage is considered formal. In everyday conversation, "who" would be frequently used.

Just to let you know, ronaldo, I have edited (changed) your thread title from "Whom or whom?" to "Who or whom?"

Do you want to be like most natives? Forget that the word ""whom"" exists.

Some use it in more formal writing, but quite a few don't.

And even then, some only use it after a preposition. I think it's still too early for the obituaries, but it is falling into disuse.
