would have vs wish

1. I would like to have met Napoleon.2. I wish I had met Nepoleon.Do you think that the above two sentences are correct? If both are correct, do you find any difference between them? I would be happy if someone help me to understand this fact.Thanks in advance.
 
Both express a desire to have encountered Napoleon.

I think the intensity of desire to meet with Napoleon is not same for both sentences. But I don't know which one shows greater intensity.
 
How much can you want to do something that is impossible?
