Hello!

We're playing a quiz game and one player answers faster than another. Giving the "winner" the point, can I say to the "loser", "sorry but he was faster than you"?

Would it be better to say "he's been faster than you"?

Since you're talking about a past situation, you use the past simple tense in such a case.

Actually, speakers use the simple tenses when stating a fact, present or past; i.e., he is/was faster than you; that's a fact. :-D

I agree with "He was faster than you."

Cheers!
