I have just try to use the verb lash in different kinds of sentences. Please would you correct my mistakes. I would like to see if I have used this verb correctly.

1. A heavy wind and rain lashed at my face, preventing me to see the road clearly .
2. A strong wind lashed against the trees, bending them almost to the ground.
3. When he came home, his wife lashed out at him for not buying vegetables and meat.
4. A prison guard opened the cell and started lashing at the prisoner, with his heavy stick.

Otherwise it's fine.

Number 4 is fine, you can also simply lash somebody (if you wanted to cause them pain) rather that lash at somebody For example:

Wargen) " the prisoner will get 4 lashes for bad behaviour."
Guard) " what time do you want the lashings to be given?"
Warden) " the lashings will start at 5am."
